After extinguishing the fire the barrel was left outside unattended. In the evening of the same day two 6-year-old children while playing set fire to the barrel, as a result the flammable substance inside it caught fire and the children received thermal burns of 90% and 50% of their body surface, after which they were hospitalized. Six days later the child died in hospital with 90% burns of his body surface. According to preliminary data, the barrel contained carbide. Currently, investigators have organized a set of measures aimed at establishing all the circumstances of what happened. During the investigation the actions (inaction) of officials responsible for safety at the scene of fire extinguishing will be given a legal assessment.
The progress of the investigation is under supervision of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee.
