The Primorsky Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a preliminary assessment into this matter under Article 156 of the Criminal Code of Russia (non-performance or improper performance of responsibilities for the upbringing of a minor by a parent). At present the necessary investigative actions are being carried out, the responsible persons are being identified.

In addition, the head of the department instructed investigators in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, as part of a criminal investigation, to study all versions of the death of a 14-year-old schoolgirl, living conditions and other information relevant to the investigation of the criminal case and to report on the initial investigative steps taken.
