A criminal case for violation of industrial safety requirements, which resulted in the death of two workers, was sent to court

The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia completed investigation of the criminal case against Vasily Kuznetsov, chief mechanic of the construction company Uraldomnoremont-Ekaterinburg LLC, accused of committing an offense under Зart 3 of Article 217 of the Criminal Code of Russia (violation of industrial safety requirements, resulting in death of two workers).

The criminal case was investigated by the Main Investigative Department on behalf of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation after a personal meeting with the wife of one of the victims.

According to the investigation, Kuznetsov, neglecting the duties entrusted to him, allowed an autotower to operate in a defective condition and with no safety system for 1.5 years. As a result, in February 2019, during work at height during the construction of a thermal power plant in the city of Novotroitsk, Orenburg region, the construction of the truck tower collapsed, workers fell and died from their injuries.

Kuznetsov did not state his position on the merits of the charge and refused to testify, having exercised his right under the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

The investigation collected sufficient evidence confirming Kuznetsov's guilt.

The criminal case with the approved indictment was sent to the Novotroitsk City Court of the Orenburg region for review.
