Investigation of a probe into death of 8 persons in a fire in Perm Region finished

The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia finished investigation of a probe against Dmitry Kravaev residing in Kudymkar, Perm Region. He is accused of infliction of death by negligence to two or more persons (Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Russia).

According to investigation, in September-October 2019 Karavaev upon request of his sister installed a heating boiler at her residence ignoring fire safety rules. In the process of long-term and intensive use of the heating equipment, violations made during its installation led to excessive heating of the house walls and their combustion in the night from April 30 to May 01, 2021. As a result of the fire 8 people who lived in the house, including 2 minors, died.

The investigation gathered enough evidence, therefore the criminal case has been sent for approval of indictment and subsequent referral to court.
