Investigation of a probe into a murder of a man in Novgorod Region finished

The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia finished investigation of a probe against residents of Novgorod Region Alexander Teremenko, Daniil Lapshin and Yana Shustova. Teremenko and Lapshin are accused of committing the murder of a resident of the city of Borovichi (Paragraph G of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia), and Shustova - of concealment of this crime, which was not promised in advance (Article 316 of the Criminal Code of Russia).

Upon the personal reception by the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia of the mother of the victim who complained about incompleteness of investigation in the regional investigative department, the probe was referred to the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

According to the investigation, in June 2018, Teremenko and Lapshin, being in a forest on the banks of the Msta River in the Borovichi district of the Novgorod region, using as an excuse the loss of gold jewelry from Shustova's apartment, which the victim was visiting, inflicted multiple blows on the latter with a wooden bat. The man died of the said wounds. Then the accomplices threw the body into the river and, together with Shustova, collected objects at the crime scene containing the victim's blood, his personal belongings and took them to another area, where they burned them together with the instrument of the crime, thereby hiding the traces.

The investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia carried out a significant amount of investigative activities to collect and consolidate the evidence of guilt of the said persons. The investigation included 27 different examinations including forensic, medical, DNA, psychological and psychiatric.

The investigators collected enough evidence for the criminal case to be transferred for approval of an indictment and subsequent referral to court.
