Investigation of a probe into kidnapping of three Abakan residents and a murder of one of them finished
The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia finished investigation of a probe against residents of the Republic of Ingushetia Abubakar Tochiev and Zyaudin Kartoev. Tochiev is accused of kidnapping by a group of persons of three victims in Zabaikalsky Territory and the Republic of Khakassia, and a murder of one of them in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) (Paragraph A, C, G, H of Part 2 of Article 126, Paragraphs A, C, D, H of Part 2 of Article 126, Paragraphs C, G of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia) and Kartoev - of kidnapping of three victims in Zabaikalsky Territory and the Republic of Khakassia (Paragraph A, C, G, H of Part 2 of Article 126, Paragraphs A, C, D, H of Part 2 of Article 126 of the Criminal Code of Russia).
According to investigators, the defendants hired two residents of the Republic of Khakassia as drivers in September 2020 to transport illegally mined gold from the Magadan region to the city of Chita in Trans-Baikal Territory, which was hidden in the caches of the truck. When the car arrived in Chita, one of the caches was found to be missing precious metal. In order to obtain information about its whereabouts, a criminal group of seven men kidnapped the hired drivers. They subjected them to physical violence over several days, using weapons and objects used as weapons. When the defendants learned from the kidnapped men about the possible involvement of one of the drivers' acquaintances in the disappearance of the gold, they also committed the kidnapping of the latter. Then they brought the three victims to the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), where one of them, who was considered to be involved in the disappearance of the gold, was killed.
The investigation included 30 different examinations including forensic, medical, DNA, psychological and psychiatric.
Five perpetrators fled from justice after committing of the offense. All of them have been placed on an international wanted list, and the court ruled to detain them in absentia.
The investigators collected enough evidence for the criminal case against the two perpetrators to be transferred for approval of an indictment and subsequent referral to court.
