The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed to launch a probe into use of violence against a traffic police officer in the Republic of Tatarstan
The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin instructed the head of the Tatarstan Republican Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia V.A. Lipsky to initiate a criminal case on the fact of violence against a traffic police officer in the city of Kazan.
It was preliminarily established that on September 4, 2021 during the daytime a traffic police squad stopped a car at the intersection of Gorky and Zhukovsky Streets in Kazan, whose driver was violating traffic rules, to check the documents. However, the driver of the vehicle ignored the police officer's demands and decided to escape from the authorities. The man started driving the car, hitting the traffic police inspector, and then continued driving with the victim on the hood of the car. As a result, the police officer was injured, and the offender fled from the scene.
The Chairman of Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin instructed the head of the Tatarstan Republican Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia Lipsky V.A. to immediately report all the circumstances of the incident and petition the court for the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention in respect of the offender. The progress and results of the investigation are under supervision of the Central Office of the Committee.
