In Sevastopol, investigation of a probe into teenagers suspected of vandalism at a memorial, finished

The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol finished investigation of a probe into three underage local residents accused of vandalism committed by a group of persons,

The probe into desecration of the memorial complex devoted to the 100-th anniversary of the end of the Civil War 1917-1922 was launched on August 30 upon instruction of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia. In the video, which was revealed during the monitoring of social networks by employees of the Main Investigative Department, two teenagers light cigarettes from the Eternal Flame at the memorial complex, and their companion films this act. Later one of the young men posted this video on social networks.

Upon instruction of the head of the  Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol Vladimir Terentyev, the Leninsky district investigative department in cooperation with units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs promptly identified the perpetrators. They turned out to be Sevastopol residents aged 16 - two college students and an 11-grade-student of one of city schools. As part of the investigation of the criminal case, a number of urgent investigative actions were carried out: the suspected teenagers were interrogated with the participation of legal representatives and compliance with all procedural norms; during the interrogation they explained that they had committed this offense while intoxicated. An inspection of the scene was conducted, a cell phone, on which video recording was made, was seized and examined, a number of other investigative actions were organized.

The progress of the investigation of the probe was supervised by the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia and the head of the  Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.

The minors fully admitted their guilt during the investigation. Together with their legal representatives, they appealed to the Department of Municipal Services of Sevastopol with a request to make up for the damage caused. They were tasked with cleaning this memorial complex and the surrounding area.  The boys and girl once again apologized most sincerely for their transgression.

All bodies and agencies involved in the establishment of the conditions and causes of delinquency have carried out significant preventive work with the adolescents, which will continue.

Currently, the materials are sent to the Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol to address the issue of termination of the criminal case and the appointment of a criminal law measure to the suspects in the form of a court fine.
