The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia requests a report on the circumstances of the wreck of the small boat in the Barents Sea

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia ordered the head of the Western Interregional Transport Investigations Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia P. Vyments to report on the investigation of the criminal case initiated over the small boat wreck in the Barents Sea under Part 3 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Russia (violation of rules for safety and operation of maritime transport).

According to investigators, on September 7 this year a small boat with the boatman and 4 passengers onboard started fishing in the Dolgaya Schel Bay from the village of Linahamari. Around noon the vessel capsized due to a sharp roll caused by the wave, as a result 2 passengers and the captain were in the water. The drifting vessel was found capsized near the shore with a surviving man born in 1962. The search and rescue operation is currently ongoing.

The progress of the investigation is under supervision of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
