The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia puts under supervision the progress of investigation of a probe into a traffic accident involving a bus in the Republic of Tatarstan

On September 9, 2021 in Laishevsky district on the Kazan - Orenburg highway as a result of an accident 1 person was killed and 5 injured, including a 12-year-old child. The Tatarstan Republican Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe into this matter under Part 3 of Article 264 (violation of traffic regulations, resulting in death of man through negligence), Paragraph C of Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Russia (rendering of services that do not meet safety requirements, entailing by negligence death of man).

According to preliminary data, the 39-year-old driver of a Honda Civic violated traffic rules by overtaking a car ahead of him and entering the oncoming traffic lane, colliding with a Ford Transit bus carrying passengers. As a result the driver of the car died at the scene. Passengers of the bus received various injuries.

Investigative activities aimed at determining of circumstances of the offense are in progress. The criminal investigation is ongoing.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the head of the Tatarstan Republican Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia to report on the performed investigative actions.

The progress of investigation is under the supervision of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
