The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia puts under supervision the progress of investigation of a probe into torture of minor children in St. Petersburg

The St. Petersburg Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia is investigating a criminal case against a woman born in 1990, initiated under Paragraphs A, D of Part 2 of Article 117 of the Criminal Code of Russia (torture against two or more persons against a minor or a person known by the perpetrator to be in a helpless state or who is materially or otherwise dependent on the perpetrator). She had been charged and taken to custody. According to investigators, the suspect, while in the apartment, acting out of personal animosity, based on her falsely understood upbringing methods, systematically applied violence to her young son and daughter born in 2013 and 2015, namely she deliberately inflicted multiple punches with hands and a wooden stick on their bodies, limited them in eating and kept them chained in the apartment corridor.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the acting head of the St. Petersburg Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia Golombievsky A.D. to establish causes and conditions that facilitated the incident and to report on the progress of investigation of the probe.

The progress of investigation is under the supervision of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
