The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia requested a report on the incident with use of violence against a representative of authority in St. Petersburg

The head of the Committee instructed the acting head of the St. Petersburg Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia A.D. Golombievsky to report on the progress of investigation of a probe into a man born in 1989, suspected of committing an offense under Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of Russia (use of violence against a representative of authority).

According to investigators, the suspect, being in a state of intoxication, grossly violating public order and traffic rules, on September 13, 2021 at high speed drove through the center of St. Petersburg, shooting all his actions on a video camera with a live broadcast. In order to stop the offenses he committed and ensure the safety of residents and visitors to the city, the suspect was stopped by police officers near the house on Nevsky Prospect. Further, in response to the legitimate demands of a police officer who was on duty to present documents for verification, the suspect tried to escape from the scene by jerking the car door, trying to close it, while holding the law enforcement officer's hand. The preventive measure for him is being decided upon; he will be charged in the nearest future. The progress of investigation is under the supervision of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
