The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia puts under supervision the progress of investigation into a traffic accident in Voronezh Region

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the head of the Voronezh Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia K.E. Levit to report on the progress of the investigation of the criminal case on the fact of a traffic accident in Paninski district, which killed five local residents, including a young child (paragraph A of Part 6 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code).

According to preliminary data on September 17, 2021 on the 238th km of federal highway Kursk-Saratov in Paninsky district of Voronezh region a 51-year-old resident of Kashirsky area driving his own KAMAZ truck in a state of intoxication hit a car Ford Fusion driven by a 43-year-old woman standing on the road and collided with a forward Volvo truck driven by a 51-year-old resident of Elista. These cars had stopped on the roadway because of an accident that had happened earlier on this road. The driver and four passengers of the car, including a 2-year old girl and four residents of Annino district - two men aged 47 and 35 years old and a 43-year-old woman, died at the scene. Another 71-year old female passenger of the Ford Fusion was taken to a medical facility with injuries.

The driver of "Kamaz" was not injured in the accident, he has been detained. A petition for his imprisonment as a preventive measure will be directed to court in the near future.

The progress of the investigation is under supervision of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee.
