Investigators of the Western Interregional Transport Investigations Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Directorate "K" of the Federal Security Service of Russia stopped the smuggling of 40 tons of tobacco products from Arab manufacturers with a market value of over 100 million rubles, which was carried out under the auspices of officials of the Southern Customs Directorate of the Federal Customs Service of Russia.
On this fact, the First Major Crimes Investigations Department of the Western Interregional Transport Investigations Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Directorate of the SEB of the FSB of Russia detained the deputy head of the customs post of the international automobile checkpoint Matveev Kurgan of the Rostov customs of the Southern Customs Directorate of the FCS of Russia and two leading inspectors of the aforementioned customs post. Depending on the role of each, they are accused of committing crimes under Paragraphs A, C of Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of Russia (bribery), Paragraph B of Part 3 of Article 291.1 (mediation in bribery), Part 1 of Article 286 (abuse of office), in addition, criminal cases were initiated under Paragraph B of Part 4 of Article 291 (bribe-giving) and Paragraph A of Part 2 of Article 200.2 of the Criminal Code of Russia (smuggling) in relation to other persons.
The investigation, based on the materials of the Department "K" of the Federal Security Service of Russia, established that since August of this year, the deputy head of the customs post of the international automobile checkpoint Matveev Kurgan of the Rostov customs, acting in collusion with smugglers and with the direct participation of his subordinates, provided conditions for illegal movement across the customs border Of the Customs Union of tobacco products and their unimpeded departure from the customs control zone without appropriate verification of the means of identification of large consignments of cigarettes.
Officials of the Southern Customs on a systematic basis provided patronage and coordinated the functioning of the smuggling channel, distributing among themselves multimillion-dollar bribes.
At the request of the investigator of the First Major Crimes Investigations Department, the deputy head of the customs post of the international automobile checkpoint Matveev Kurgan and his subordinate have already been taken into custody.
The criminal investigation is ongoing.
