The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia is establishing circumstances of death of a 13-year-old teenager. His body with no life signs was discovered on September 22, 2021 in a garage near his house as a result of search activities. During the examination of the body, no criminal injuries were found. During an inspection of the scene, a household gas cylinder was found in the garage. In terms of investigation of the probe the investigative unit appointed a forensic examination in order to determine the death reason. According to the results of the study, the expert made a preliminary conclusion that the death of a teenager occurred as a result of poisoning with household gas.

In addition, in the Altai Territory on September 21, 2021, in one of the villages, five minor children aged 10 to 13 purchased a gas canister with household gas in one of the village's retail stores. After inhaling gas vapors, a ten-year-old boy became ill, and he fell in the premises of an abandoned building, and after a while died before the arrival of the ambulance doctors. The Altai Regional Office of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation launched a probe into an offence under Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code or Russia (infliction of death by negligence).

During the preliminary investigation, it is necessary to give a legal assessment to the actions of officials of the prevention system, as well as the legality of selling dangerous items to minors.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia requested reports on the progress of the investigation of criminal cases from the heads of the investigative departments of the aforementioned subjects, placing them under supervision of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
