On September 22, 2021 the AN-26 was checking ground-based radio equipment on the territory of Khabarovsk region. In the area of 38 km from Khabarovsk the plane disappeared from the radar and communication with it was lost. There were 6 crew members on board the plane. The Eastern Interregional Transport Investigations Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia initiated criminal proceedings on this fact on grounds of a crime under part 3 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Russia.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the Head of the Eastern Interregional Transport Investigations Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia Aleksandrov A.A. to report on the performed investigative actions. The progress of the investigation is under supervision of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee.
