In Irkutsk Region, a probe launched into a traffic accident involving a school bus

The Irkutsk Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Russia (rendering of services that do not meet safety requirements).

Earlier, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin put the progress of the pre-investigative probe on this accident under supervision of the Central Office of the Committee.

According to preliminary data, on September 22, 2021 around 15:30 on the highway "Siberia" near the village of Kutulik in Irkutsk region there was a collision of a school bus and a UAZ car. There were 18 children in the bus, second, fourth and ninth graders, three adult attendants and the driver.  As a result of the accident a 10-year-old child and the bus driver were injured.  At the moment they are being treated in the hospital, where they are receiving all necessary assistance. Other victims of the accident are directed to medical examination.

The investigator has conducted an inspection of the scene, questioned witnesses of the incident, the passengers of the bus, seized the technical documentation of the passenger bus, appointed the forensic medical examination.

Investigators are conducting necessary investigative actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident. The criminal investigation continues.
