The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia puts under supervision the progress of investigation of a probe into rendering of unsafe services in Voronezh Region

According to the results of an inquest into the food poisoning of vacationers, including a minor in one of the tourist camps in Voronezh, the Voronezh Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia initiated a probe into an offense under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Russia (providing services that do not meet safety requirements).

According to preliminary data, on August 19, 2021, several vacationers, including a 1-year-old and 3-month-old boy, were having breakfast at a cafe located on the territory of a recreation center in Voronezh. After that, three adults and a child felt a deterioration in their well-being, and after some time were hospitalized in medical facilities, where they were diagnosed with "salmonellosis". The examination conducted by specialists of the territorial department of Rospotrebnadzor revealed violations of the requirements of sanitary and epidemiological legislation in the organization of food, which creates a direct threat to life or health of people.

Currently investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia appointed forensic examination to determine the severity of damage to health of citizens, claimed the documentation regulating the provision of services for recreation and food.

Due to appeals of the victims reported by media expressing intent to contact the management of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin put investigation of the probe under supervision of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

Apart from that, the head of the Voronezh Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia Levit K.E. was instructed to report on the progress of investigation of the probe.
