Investigative authorities continue to investigate the criminal case initiated into the disappearance of the AN-26 aircraft in the Khabarovsk Territory
The Eastern Interregional Transport Investigations Department continues investigation of a probe under Part 3 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Russia into disappearance of AN-26 aircraft in Khabarovsk Territory.
On September 22, 2021 the AN-26 was checking ground-based radio equipment on the territory of Khabarovsk region. Near 38 km from Khabarovsk the plane disappeared from the radar. There were 6 crew members on board the plane. On September 23, 2021 during search operations wreckage was found on the top of the ridge in Bolshekhetsir State Nature Reserve, presumably belonging to the AN-26. A ground search and rescue team was sent to the site of the airplane wreckage discovery. At present the investigative team has arrived at the scene and started inspection works.
At present, a number of investigative actions have been carried out in the criminal case: the investigators have interrogated the dispatcher who controlled the flight of the AN-26, the flight director, seized the records of the negotiations between dispatchers and crew members that took place, requested from the Far Eastern Interregional Territorial Air Transport Administration and UGAN NOTB DFO Rostransnadzor documents regarding the company, aircraft and crew members about air accidents and bringing them to administrative responsibility. Previously the investigators have interrogated flight engineers of CJSC "Flight Checks and Systems" who performed maintenance of the aircraft before the last flight and seized their maintenance checklist and task booklet for the flight; the fuel samples at Khabarovsk (Novy) airport; a chemical forensic examination has been assigned; documentation on preflight medical examination of the crew and meteorological weather forecast on the flight route of the A-26 have been withdrawn.
The criminal investigation continues.
