A probe into a patient attack on ambulance paramedic launched in Tomsk region upon instructions from the Chairman of Investigative Committee of Russia

The Tomsk Regional Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation launched a probe upon instruction of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia into assault of a patient on an ambulance paramedic in the city of Tomsk under Article 116 of the Criminal Code (assault and battery committed out of hooliganism).

On 23 September 2021, the police department of the Oktyabrsky district of Tomsk received a report that a regional resident had attacked a paramedic while administering first aid, inflicting bodily injuries, the extent of which is to be determined by forensic medical examination.

On the same day, the management of the Tomsk Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russian initiated the transfer of the inspection materials on the said fact from the inquiring authorities to the Investigative Committee. Following a review of the materials, investigators launched a probe under article 116 of the Criminal Code of Russia.

A set of investigative activities aimed to establish circumstances of the incident is being carried out under the probe. The criminal investigation is under the supervision of the direction of Investigative Department. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
