The Chairman of Russian Investigative Committee orders heads of Sverdlovsk and Rostov regional investigative departments to report on incidents

Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, instructed the Head of the Sverdlovsk Regional Investigative Department, M.V. Boginsky, to report on the progress of the investigation into the probe against two men accused of committing a series of sexual offences against a 12-year-old girl in the town of Pervouralsk.

The men have now been detained. It has been established that one of them is a district police officer, and another of the defendants has been repeatedly convicted. The issue of remanding them in custody will be decided upon shortly. The investigation is also looking into the causes and conditions that contributed to the crimes, including how the district police officer was recruited to the police force. The Sverdlovsk Region Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia has sent a request for an official investigation into the case to the regional directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Head of the Committee also instructed the acting head of the Rostov Region Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia, M.A. Shishchenko, to report on the progress of the procedural probe into the poisoning of six children with chlorine vapour during visiting a swimming pool in one of the cultural and recreational complexes in the city of Taganrog. The minors were taken to the city hospital. Medics assess their condition as satisfactory.

The progress of investigation and procedural probe is under the supervision of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
