The Vologda Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia continues to investigate a criminal case into the murder of a woman born in 1980 and attempted murder of a man born in 1995.

As previously reported, on September 28, 2021, in the village of Vokhtoga, Gryazovets district, the body of a local resident was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Later, in the apartment of one of the houses, another local resident was found with a gunshot wound, who survived and is now undergoing inpatient treatment. The person involved, according to the investigators, in the commission of both crimes disappeared from the scene, but was identified within 24 hours thanks to well-planned investigative actions and operational-search measures. It turned out to be a local resident - a man born in 1967, previously convicted of committing a crime against the person (Paragraph H of Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Russia) and released from prison at the end of 2020.

He was detained by investigative authorities and interrogated as a suspect. Currently, investigative actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances and motives for the commission of unlawful acts are continuing, including measures directly involving the suspect, who admitted the fact of their commission, but so far refrained from describing the events.

The investigation will motion the court for the pre-trial custody of the suspect. The man will be charged in the coming days.
