Life sentence imposed over a member of a criminal community created by Dokku Umarov and Ali Taziev

The evidence collected by the Main Investigations Directorate over North Caucasian Federal District of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was found sufficient by the court to sentence the resident of the Republic of Ingushetia Abo Dobriev. He was found guilty of committing offenses under Part 2 of Article 210 (participation in a criminal community), Part 2 of Article 209 (participation in a stable armed group (gang)), Part 2 of Article 105 (murder), Article 317 (encroachment on a life of law enforcement officers and servicemen), Part 3 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code of Russia (illegal turnover of firearms, ammunition and explosive devices).

The investigation and the court established that in June 2010 Abo Dobriev voluntarily joined a stable armed group that was structurally part of the criminal association created by Dokku Umarov and Ali Taziyev and actively participated in the commission of grave and especially grave crimes. Between October 2010 and August 2012 in the Republics of Ingushetia and North Ossetia-Alania, Dobriev murdered a member of the Russian emergency ministry's directorate in the Republic of Ingushetia and carried out armed attacks on employees of the State Inspectorate for Internal Affairs, OMON and the Centre for Combating Organized Crime of the Russian Interior Ministry in the Republic of Ingushetia and servicemen of the Russian Interior Ministry troops, killing five of them and wounding four more.

During preliminary investigation of the probe 9 officers of law enforcement bodies, servicemen and their close relatives were recognized as victims and interrogated in this status. They were subjected to 9 forensic examinations.

The court sentenced Dobriev to life imprisonment in a special regime penal colony.

In addition, eight people are on the federal and international wanted list in the criminal case. More than 20 participants were convicted and sentenced to terms ranging from 7 years to life imprisonment for crimes committed by the criminal association between 2011 and 2020.

Investigations into 12 operatives had been terminated due to their death.

At present Ali Taziyev has been brought to criminal responsibility. In addition, the involvement of a number of other individuals is being verified, and their role and actions within the criminal community are being established. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
