Chairman of the Investigative Committee speaks at a meeting of the Russian Security Council
The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Aleksandr Ivanovich Bastrykin took part in a meeting of the Security Council of Russia, where the criminal situation in the country and measures to improve it were discussed. The event was chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev. It was also attended by permanent members of the Council and representatives from a number of state bodies, including the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education, and Rosmolodezh.
In his speech Alexander Bastrykin touched upon the issues of preventing attacks on educational institutions. He noted that a comprehensive approach and coordinated actions of state bodies and public institutions are necessary to solve tasks in this direction. "Investigative practice allows us to conclude that the emergence of teenage aggression is facilitated by problems in families, lack of understanding of loved ones, lack of trusting relationships, socialization problems, lack of sufficient level of education, culture, lack of moral guidelines," he stressed. "All this is exacerbated by the presence of a large amount of destructive content on the Internet, which is "absorbed" by adolescents who find themselves in difficult psychological conditions or face certain difficulties. When young people see self-interest, selfishness, anger and hatred around, and there is no one to give them the right guidelines, a dangerous situation develops, which can lead to destructivism," added the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
Among the complex measures that would improve the situation Alexander Bastrykin proposed to intensify the work of relevant state agencies, whose responsibilities include issues of education and upbringing of young people. He also drew attention to the importance of strengthening systematic work with adolescents, designed to promote the formation of moral values.
The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia suggested reviving the forms of student self-governance, which had proved effective in Soviet times. At the same time he also spoke about the need to strengthen the system of security of educational institutions, as well as working on the issue of strengthening control over the circulation of firearms.
