The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin instructed the acting head of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia D.G. Kanonerov to report on the interim results of investigation of a probe (Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Russia) into injuring of residents of an apartment building in Nizhny Novgorod, where an explosion of gas mixture occurred. According to the investigation, in the morning of October 2, 2021 in the apartment located on the 9th floor in Avtozavodsky district of Nizhniy Novgorod there was an explosion of gas-air mixture. As a result there was partial damage to the apartment structures, a man and a woman were injured. They were hospitalized. At present the IC investigators together with criminal investigators and experts are working at the scene, making its detailed examination. The cause of the incident is being established, forensic examinations have been appointed, witnesses are being questioned.

In addition, the head of the Committee instructed the head of the Bryansk Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia Lukichev M. P. to report on the progress of the criminal investigation into the mass media report about the poisoning of children in Gymnasium No 3 in the city of Bryansk. (Part 1 of Article 238 of the RF Criminal Code). Experts currently consider a rotavirus infection to be one of the reasons for the incident.
