Investigation of a criminal case involving corruption against an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia completed

The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia over the North Caucasian Federal District finished investigation of a probe into the head of Izobilnensky District Department of the Stavropol Territorial Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Nikolay Davydenko. He is accused of committing an offence under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of Russia (bribery).

According to investigators, in late September 2020, a resident of the Stavropol Territory Andrei Alexandrov offered Davydenko a cash bribe of 1.5 million rubles for not checking the business activities of his acquaintance. Aleksandrov himself took on the obligations of an intermediary in the transfer of the bribe.  He told the entrepreneur that he had to pay 1.8 million rubles for not conducting inspections of his business activities.  Of these, 300 thousand rubles was intended for him personally for mediation in bribery, and 1.5 million rubles for Davydenko. After all the arrangements, Aleksandrov received from the entrepreneur the first part of the bribe in the amount of 100 thousand rubles, having agreed that the rest will be handed over later.

In October 2020, in the course of operational and investigative activities conducted by officers of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Stavropol Territory and the Main Investigative Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Aleksandrov's home, as well as in Davydenko's office, some of the bills given by the businessman as the first part of the bribe were discovered.

The criminal case into Davydenko with an approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.

Criminal prosecution against Aleksandrov was terminated in connection with the death of the accused.
