Investigators continue to establish the circumstances of the poisoning of people in the Orenburg region

Investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia continue to investigate probes into fatal poisonings of residents of the Orenburg region.

At the time of publication of the information, the investigation establishes the circumstances of the death of 34 people who lived in 4 territorial entities of the Orenburg region, in total, according to the investigation, 64 people suffered from the poisoning. The number of victims is being clarified.

Investigative and search activities during the investigation resulted in establishing the involvement of new perpetrators in the crimes. Since the reports of poisonings were filed, 14 criminal cases have been initiated; to date, investigators in cooperation with police officers identified and detained 15 persons, in respect of eight of whom a preventive measure in the form of custody has already been selected.

The production of investigative, procedural and operational-search measures continues and is aimed at identifying all persons involved in the commission of the crimes under investigation.

In addition, during a search in a house of one of the organizers of the illegal activity were found cash of over 1.8 million rubles, the arrest of which will be made in accordance with established procedure. Documents found during the search show, that a batch of methanol-containing liquid was brought from the city of Ufa, where the necessary investigative actions have also been taken.

The criminal investigation is ongoing.
