Probe launched into civilian wounded by Ukrainian servicemen

Despite the agreements reached, Ukrainian military personnel continue to fire at the settlements of Donbass, as a result of which civilians suffer. The Investigative Committee of Russia registered another such fact.

According to the investigation, on October 9, 2021, servicemen of the Ukrainian armed formations fired targeted small arms fire at residential buildings that are not military targets on Lenin Street in the village of Aleksandrovka, Petrovsky District, Donetsk. As a result, a 62-year-old man not participating in the armed conflict was wounded.

According to the investigation, by shelling a populated area, Ukrainian soldiers intended to kill or seriously injure an unlimited number of civilians living in Donbass and not participating

in the armed conflict. The Ukrainian military officers had violated Protocol on cease-fire in southeast of Ukraine and Memorandum to it, as well as provisions of the Convention on Protection of Civilian Persons in Times of War and Additional Protocol II to it.

Upon this fact a probe was launched into an offence under Part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code of Russia (use in a military conflict of means and methods of warfare, banned by an international treaty of the Russian Federation).

The Investigative Committee of Russia continues identifying officials involved in use of banned means and methods of warfare against Donbass civilians.
