The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin took part in a meeting of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC), which was held in Moscow under the leadership of Chairman of the NAC, Director of the FSB of Russia Alexander Vasilyevich Bortnikov in the video-conference mode. The event was attended by members of the NAC, plenipotentiary representatives of the President of the Russian Federation in federal districts, heads of federal executive bodies, representatives of law enforcement agencies and special services.

The Chairman of the NAC noted that international terrorist organizations continue to make attempts to destabilize the situation in the region, actively use the Internet to propagate terrorist ideas, attract new supporters, primarily from among young people, and finance criminal activities. Over the past three years, 29 terrorist attacks have been suppressed in the North Caucasus, along with over 30 other terrorist crimes, 84 bandits have been liquidated, and 379 accomplices have been detained. 59 conspiratorial cells were identified, whose members intended to commit terrorist acts in places of mass presence of people.

The Investigative Committee of Russia also investigates criminal cases of terrorist crimes in the region, in accordance with the jurisdiction established by law, with operational support from the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

During the event, an additional set of measures was developed to improve the organization of the work of local self-government bodies and anti-terrorist commissions in order to further reduce the level of terrorist threats in the North Caucasus Region.
