The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Arkhangelsk region and Nenets autonomous district completed preliminary investigation into a criminal case against a 44-year-old resident of the regional center previously convicted of murder for committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code (murder).
On April 8, 2004, in the morning, passers-by on Uritsky Street in Arkhangelsk found the body of a 17-year-old boy with traces of beatings and craniocerebral trauma. A criminal case was initiated over the incident.
For a long time, this crime, committed in conditions of non-obviousness, remained unsolved. Thanks to systematic work aimed at solving crimes of past years, this year, during a complex of investigative and operational measures carried out by investigators of the Investigative Directorate with the active participation of officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Arkhangelsk Region and the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Arkhangelsk Region, with the forensic support of the forensics department, the involvement of the 44-year-old local resident serving a sentence for the murder of three people was established.
According to investigators, on the night of April 8, 2004 the accused, being in a state of intoxication near a house on Uritsky Street in Arkhangelsk, during a quarrel with a 17-year-old friend arising out of personal hostility because of the debt of the minor for alcohol previously purchased from the suspect, beat and strangled the young man, and then fled from the scene.
During the interrogation, he pleaded guilty, repented of what he had done and told the investigator about the circumstances of the crime. During the testimony on the spot, the defendant confirmed the confession and showed his unlawful actions on the mannequin. Notably, he was previously convicted for the murder of a salesman in a commercial pavilion, which he committed in 2005 not far from the site of the aforementioned murder of the minor.
The investigation gathered enough evidence; therefore, the criminal case with the approved indictment has been sent to the court to be tried on the merits.
