In Buryatia, a local citizen accused of a murder of a teenager and of committing a number of other offenses to stand trial

The Buryatia Republican Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia finished investigation of a probe into 32-year-old previously convicted resident of Malyi Kunaley settlement of Bichursky district of the Republic of Buryatia. He is accused of committing crimes under Paragraph B of Article 105 (murder of a person in connection with the performance of his public duty); Paragraphs C, D, G of Article 127 (illegal imprisonment); Paragraph H of Part 2 of Article 111 (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm to health); Part 1 of Article 119 (murder threats), Part 1 of Article 167 (intentional destruction of property), and Part 1 of Article 318 (violence against a representative of the authorities).

According to the investigation, on November 28, 2020, after drinking alcohol, he came to his mother-in-law and began to sort things out with her. The man was behaving aggressively, after a while he took a knife from the kitchen and headed towards the owner of the house. The woman's 17-year-old son, who was nearby, rushed to her aid, stood in front of his mother and shielded her from the armed intruder. Out of revenge for his actions, the accused stabbed the teenager in the chest and inflicted injuries from which the victim died. After that, the intruder held the people in the house in place, not allowing them to leave or call an ambulance. In order to illegally deprive her of her liberty, he struck the owner of the house twice in the head with his fist and stabbed her in the leg with a knife. He also made death threats, waved a knife in front of people, and stabbed pieces of furniture. He then stabbed in the stomach his mother-in-law's friend, who was visiting her and tried to leave the house. After a while, the intruder became distracted, which allowed the daughter of the owner of the house to run out of the house and call the police. After that, the attacker left the victims and disappeared. A local police officer was the first to arrive at the scene and located the defendant, but the man resisted and hit the officer in the face with his head. The police officer stopped the attack and detained the intruder.

Noting the heroism of the deceased schoolboy, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, ordered that the teenager be awarded posthumously. The Medal of Valor and Courage was awarded to the boy's mother on June 1, International Children's Day. Employees of the Investigative Department cite the bravery of the young hero as an example for other young people when conducting lessons on courage in educational organizations.

Currently, during the preliminary investigation, enough evidence was gathered; therefore, the criminal case with the approved indictment was sent to the court to be tried on the merits.
