The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia visits the St. Petersburg War Veterans Hospital

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin visited the St. Petersburg War Veterans Hospital. The event was also attended by: Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Vladimirovich Klaus, head of the Educational Outreach department of the Investigative Committee of Russia Hero of Russia Sergei Vasilyevich Petrov, Vice Governor of the city of St. Petersburg Oleg Nikolaevich Ergashev, Head of the Cultural Center of the Investigative Committee of Russia Maria Dmitrievna Krasnopeeva, Chief Physician of St. Petersburg State War Veterans Hospital Maxim Yuryevich Kabanov and hospital staff, chief physician of the Novosibirsk regional hospital No. 2 for war veterans Lyudmila Vladimirovna Kanunnikova, head of the Ulyanovsk regional clinical hospital for war veterans Elmira Abdullova, Chairman of the St. Petersburg organizations of veterans (pensioners, invalids) of war, labor, the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies Vasily Tikhonovich Volobuev, Chairman of the Board of the St. Petersburg public organization "Residents of besieged Leningrad" Elena Sergeevna Tikhomirova, as well as students of educational institutions of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

Congratulating the veterans on the International Day of Older Persons, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation noted that “regardless of age, despite health problems, our veterans today share their experience and knowledge with the younger generation. Providing veterans with medical, legal, social assistance is becoming not only relevant, but also critically important. And for the Investigative Committee of Russia these issues are one of the priorities of work. In the past year of the 75th anniversary of the Victory, the Investigative Committee held the Relay of Good Deeds, which, among other things, included assistance to veterans of the Great Patriotic War, military operations and their families." The head of the IC of Russia also described in detail how during this action, our employees, cadets and students took patronage over the veterans in the conditions of coronavirus infection: they provided them with medicines and food.

Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin thanked the patients of the hospital for their endless energy, willpower, love of life. He stressed that the feat of Leningraders is a great feat in the history of mankind, and the Investigative Committee of Russia will continue to work to preserve the historical memory of our country. “Thank you for helping to preserve these glorious Leningrad and St. Petersburg traditions with your life and your labor. On the part of the Investigative Committee of Russia, we are always glad to provide you with any help and support,” A.I. Bastrykin resumed.

Alexander Ivanovich warmly thanked the medical workers for their selfless work and loyalty to duty, for the feat, because in the current conditions doctors were literally in a combat situation in the fight against the pandemic.

Congratulatory words were spoken by O.N. Ergashev, L.V. Kanunnikova, and E.S. Tikhomirova. They thanked Alexander Ivanovich for his attentive attitude to the veterans, residents of the besieged Leningrad and the staff of the hospital. Then there was a solemn passage of the parade crew and the ceremony of laying flowers at the memorial plaque in honor of the employees who died at the fronts, in defensive work and from hunger in besieged Leningrad. The parade caused the most positive emotions among the patients of the hospital and its staff. The audience could not refrain from tears of happiness, watching such a vivid show.

For all the guests, a small excursion was held in the Museum of Siege Medicine of the St. Petersburg State Budgetary Healthcare Institution "Hospital for War Veterans", as well as a festive concert prepared by the staff of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

By the decision of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, residents of besieged Leningrad were awarded departmental medals "75 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945". Among the awardees were T.M. Golubeva, M.G. Andreeva, M.N. Bespalenko, O.A. Vasiliev, T.M. Ivanova, N.M. Masterova, T.V. Morozova, E.N. Murzich, L.M. Simochkina, V.G. Surov, T.S. Sukhanova, A.B. Teklin, V.A. Timofeev, E.S. Tikhomirova, G.S. Filippov.

In addition, the departmental medal "For Assistance" was awarded to the staff of the hospital for war veterans, and the commemorative medal "10 years to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation" was awarded to the chairmen and employees of the regional divisions of the public organization "Residents of besieged Leningrad". Together with veterans and cadets, Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin took part in a memorable planting of cedars on the alley of honorary guests of the Hospital. 

After the celebrations, a meeting was held with the management and members of the board of the non-profit organization Union of War Veterans Hospitals. Within the framework of the meeting, issues of rendering assistance to such institutions located in various constituent entities of the Russian Federation, issues of interaction related to the provision of social and medical assistance to veterans of the Great Patriotic War, residents of besieged Leningrad, war veterans, as well as financing the activities of hospitals were discussed. The high organization of such medical institutions and their extensive experience in the provision of high-quality and affordable medical care to veterans was noted.

Everyone agreed that today's meeting is very important and productive not only for the veterans themselves, who made a huge contribution to the defense of our Motherland, but also for the patriotic education of young people, so that its representatives remember who kept peace on earth for them.
