The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia requested a report on the progress of the criminal investigation into the fire in a house on the Karpovka river embankment in St. Petersburg

In connection with the published in mass-media appeal from the residents of former lodging house of V. G. Chubakov in St. Petersburg, which is the monument of architecture of regional importance, the minister charged the acting head of the main investigation department of the Investigative Committee of Russian Federation in St. Petersburg A. D. Golombievsky to present the report on progress and results of criminal proceedings (Part 1 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code, violation of safety rules when performing construction works).

The media reported that the tenants of the Chubakov house, which was seriously damaged in a recent fire, are asking the leadership of the Investigative Committee of Russia to bring to justice those responsible for the fire and the destruction of part of the building. It was noted that the major reconstruction of the house was carried out with numerous violations, despite the fact that earlier residents had already drawn attention to the deplorable state of the house.

As it was reported earlier, on October 9, 2021 as a result of violations of safety rules by unidentified employees of one of the organizations of the city during construction and other works on the 7th floor of the building on the embankment of the Karpovka river, the roof caught fire.
