On 26 October 2021, the media reported about the dismantling of a monumental artwork in Lviv, Ukraine. The monument represents a metal replica of the Order of the Patriotic War on the Mars Field memorial, the burial site of Soviet soldiers who died in the Great Patriotic War.

The Сhairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Aleksandr Ivanovich Bastrykin, has instructed the Legal Support and International Cooperation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia, in cooperation with the Russian Foreign Ministry, to examine the situation and report on the results.

The Russian Investigative Committee considers it important to respond to such facts of disregard for the memory and history of the struggle of the Soviet people against fascism.
