The St. Petersburg Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe under Article 317 of the Criminal Code (encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer).

According to investigators, on November 9, 2021 near one of the houses on Pulkovskoe Shosse the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region with the forceful support of the Federal Guard Service carried out operational and investigative work to detain a group of individuals involved in the commission of fraud. Fleeing the scene, the 38-year-old suspect, driving a Fiat Ducato, intentionally hit a Granit SWAT officer of the State Department of the National Guard for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, who died at the scene of the accident from the injuries he sustained.

A 38-year-old man suspected of assault on the life of a law enforcement officer was detained on the Ring Road, and the issue of his arrest and charging him is being resolved.

Investigative actions are being carried out in order to establish all the circumstances of the crime.
