In Khabarovsk Territory, the director of a transportation company accused of providing services of improper quality that resulted in the death of people to stand trial

The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia completed an investigation into a criminal case against the director of a transportation company Dmitry Pogrebnoy for providing services that do not meet the safety requirements of life and health of consumers, resulting in negligence causing serious harm to human health, death of two or more persons (Part 3 Article 238 of the Criminal Code).

The investigation established that on May 1, 2021 Viktor Dneprovsky, a driver employed by Pogrebnoy, driving a bus from Khabarovsk in the direction of Sovetskaya Gavan lost control and drove to the roadside, which caused the vehicle to overturn. As a result of the accident 3 people died, 29 passengers received injuries of varying severity.

During the investigation the evidence was obtained that the cause of the accident was that the driver was fatigued, caused by systematic violations of his rest and work schedule by his employer Pogrebnoy.

Within the framework of the investigation the investigation has seized the property of the accused in the amount of more than 90 million rubles to compensate for the damage caused to the victims.

The criminal case against Pogrebnoy with an indictment was sent to court for consideration on the merits.

In addition, earlier, the court considered the criminal case against the bus driver. Dneprovsky was found guilty under Part 5 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code (traffic rules violation that resulted in death of two or more people); he was sentenced to imprisonment. Also, auto inspection inspector Rozvezdev Vladimir was brought to criminal responsibility and charged with negligence during inspection of the company. At present, investigative actions on this criminal case have been completed, the accused and his defender are getting acquainted with the case materials.
