The Chairman of Russia's Investigative Committee instructs to report on progress of investigation of a probe on fraud committed against an orphan in Saratov Region

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia has instructed the Head of the Saratov Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia, A. Yu. Govorunov to report on the progress of the investigation of the probe against a former employee of the Prosecutor's Office under Part 3 of Article 30 and Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

The probe in question was initiated on the basis of a statement made by a 26-year-old woman, an orphan. According to the investigation, she was registered as being in need of housing in 2018. In November 2020, she met an employee of the prosecutor's office, who informed her with deliberately false information that he could assist her in obtaining a housing certificate because of his position. He demanded a financial reward in return. In August 2021, the Ministry of Construction and Housing of Saratov Region issued a housing certificate to the girl on a general basis, which she used to buy a decent home. The man then began demanding an illegal reward, assuring the girl that he had influenced the issuance of the certificate.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the Central Office of the Committee to supervise the probe.
