Acting deputy governor of the Vladimir Region is suspected of committing a corruption offense

The Vladimir Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia initiated a criminal case against Grigory Vishnevsky, acting deputy governor of the Vladimir Region. He is suspected of committing an offense under Paragraph C of Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of Russia (receiving a bribe on a large scale by a person holding a public office of a subject of the Russian Federation).

According to investigators, during the period from August to November 2021, the Acting Deputy Governor of the region received an illegal remuneration of at least 600 thousand rubles for his general protection. The suspect was apprehended while receiving another part of the bribe.

Vishnevsky reportedly promised the merchant not to allow possible negative consequences for his firm on one of the state contracts in the supervised area, as well as in the conclusion and execution of other contracts.

The Investigator of the Investigative Committee of Russia will send a petition to the court for a measure of restraint in the form of detention in respect of the high-ranking official.

At present, urgent investigative actions are being conducted on the criminal case; the criminal investigation continues in collaboration with the Federal Security Service of Russia.
