The Voronezh Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russian Federation initiated a criminal investigation into the death of six people, including five children, in a fire in the village of Kostovo, Olkhovatsky district, under Part 3 Article 109 of the Criminal Code (causing death by negligence of two or more persons).

According to investigators, today there was a fire in a private house on Central Street in the village of Kostovo Olkhovatsky district of Voronezh Region. During fire suppression, rescuers found the bodies of a 33-year-old woman and her five children with traces of thermal stress: two girls aged 4 and 10 years old and three boys who were 1 year 7 months, 3 years and 13 years.  

Employees of the Investigative Committee of Russia continue examination of the scene, during which objects of significance to the investigation of the criminal case are removed, a set of necessary examinations, including forensic in order to determine the exact cause of death and fire engineering to determine the exact cause of the fire are assigned, witnesses are questioned, other investigative actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances of what happened are performed.

The investigation will provide a proper legal assessment of the living conditions and upbringing of the children, as well as the actions of officials of the prevention system.

The criminal investigation is ongoing.
