The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Crimea is accused of taking a bribe on a large scale

The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia initiated a criminal case against the Minister of culture of the Republic of Crimea Vera Novoselskaya on signs of a crime under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (taking bribes on a particularly large scale).

According to investigators, in 2018, Novoselskaya, using the powers of the office, received from the beneficiary of the LLC "Meander" a bribe in the amount of 25 million rubles for general patronage in the performance by the specified company of construction and installation works on the object "Construction of the Crimean state center of children's theatrical art".

The places of residence and work of Novoselskaya were searched with the assistance of Main Department of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the Federal Security Service of Russia.  Novoselskaya was detained, she was charged with large-scale bribery.

The question of her pre-trial detention is being resolved. The criminal investigation continues.
