The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia requests a report on death of children in Voronezh Region

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the Head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Voronezh Region Levit K.E. to report on the investigative actions in the criminal case into death of five children and their mother as a result of a fire.

The Voronezh Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia initiated criminal proceedings based on the results of the preliminary investigation under Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of Russia.

On November 17, 2021 a 33-year-old woman and her five minor children died in a house fire in the village of Kostovo, Olkhovatsky district of Voronezh region. On this fact the Investigative Committee opened and investigated a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code (causing death by negligence of two or more persons).

Investigators from the Investigative Committee continue to perform a set of necessary investigative and procedural actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the crime.

The progress of the investigation is under supervision of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee.
