The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the investigators of the Central Office to get involved in clarifying the circumstances of environmental crimes in the Leningrad Region


The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin instructed the investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia to provide practical assistance to the investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Leningrad Region to clarify the circumstances of unauthorized dumpsites on the territory of the region.

Investigators in the Leningrad region have several criminal cases related to financial fraud in the cleaning of urban areas and theft of funds allocated to eliminate unauthorized dumps. A number of criminal cases initiated by investigating authorities of Investigative Committee of Russia on the facts of disposal of production and consumption waste in the Leningrad region (in Vsevolozhsky area - near the village of Staraya and in the village of Yanino), have previously been sent to court.

The head of the Committee instructed investigators to comprehensively study and analyze the arguments of activists spread in the media and social networks, as well as within the investigated criminal cases to establish the causes and conditions that contributed to the commission of crimes in the environmental sphere of the Leningrad Region.
