The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia requests a report on situation with the demolition of the Uktus air terminal in the Sverdlovsk region

Following an appeal concerning the demolition of the Uktus air terminal in the Sverdlovsk Region, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the Head of the Sverdlovsk Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia, M.V. Boginsky, to report on the situation.

Public activists have previously tried to save the building, which is the only one of its kind in Russia built before World War II. For example, they submitted an application to the Urals Department of State Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites, which included the building in the register of cultural heritage sites and began checking it over.

Also, one of the activists, in an appeal to the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, asked for a legal assessment of the actions of the territorial administrations of Rostransnadzor and Rosaviatsia, operators of the airport terminal premises.

The head of the Investigative Committee ordered an investigation into the circumstances of the demolition of the building and, if warranted, to check the actions of the officials who took that decision. The progress of fulfillment of the instruction is to be supervised by the Central Office of the Committee.
