Charges pressed against the defendants in the criminal case on the tragedy at the Listvyazhnaya mine in the Kemerovo Region

The Investigative Committee of Russia has charged Sergei Makhrakov, director of the Listvyazhnaya mine in the Kemerovo Region, his first deputy Andrei Molostov, site manager Sergei Gerasimenk, and chief state inspectors of the Belov territorial department of the Siberian Department of Rostekhnadzor Sergei Vinokurov and Vyacheslav Semykin. Makhrakov, Molostov and Gerasimenok are charged with committing a crime under Part 3 Article 217 of the Criminal Code (violation of industrial safety requirements at hazardous industrial facilities, resulting in the death of two or more individuals through negligence); Vinokurov and Semykin - under Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code (negligence leading to death of two or more people by negligence).

According to investigators, as a result of violations of industrial safety requirements of industrial facilities, allowed the mine director Mahrakov and his subordinates, there was a gas dynamic phenomenon and the subsequent smoke in the ventilation shaft area, which led to the death of workers who were in the mine.

Sergei Vinokurov and Vyacheslav Semykin improperly performed their job duties of supervising the industrial safety requirements at a hazardous production facility. The inspectors drew up acts of inspection of this drift without actually checking it.

Establishment of all the circumstances of the incident continues. The progress of the criminal investigation is under control of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

The investigation will petition the court for the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention.
