Today, a number of mass media outlets have spread the word that requests have been sent to the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, asking him to stop criminal gangs from committing illegal acts in Udmurtia. According to media reports, the matter concerns both crimes against sexual inviolability of minors and financial crimes. The appeal states that although individual facts remain the subject of investigation in a number of criminal cases investigated by the regional investigative department, there is no systematic work aimed at suppressing the activities of the groups.
The head of the Committee instructed R. R. Tugushev, the head of the Investigative Committee for the Udmurt Republic, to report on all the arguments stated in the mass media materials and on the progress of the investigation of criminal cases related to the described events.
