In connection with the appeal to the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, by representatives of a public organisation, criticising the work of investigators in Kaluga Region in establishing the circumstances of the death of an underage girl in July 2021, the Head of the Committee instructed the head of the Kaluga Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Igor Litvinov, to immediately launch a probe into this case.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the head of the Yaroslavl Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia A.M. Sobolev to report on the work done in the procedural investigation into the fire in a hospital in Yaroslavl. The Chairman also instructed to report on the work already done and the findings of the procedural investigation. The investigation conducted a comprehensive forensic examination of the deceased, including chemical testing, forensic examinations of eyewitnesses, a drug intoxication test with samples taken, a genetic test, polygraph examination, repeated interviews with all participants in the incident and a chemist, and inspections and additional examinations of the scene of the incident and the deceased's home, and of her social media accounts. The deceased girl's family members and acquaintances were interviewed. Other people were also interviewed at the parents' request.

The progress of fulfillment of the instruction is to be supervised by the Central Office of the Committee of Russia.
