Investigation of a probe into a resident of Vladimir Region accused of kidnapping and other grave offences finished

The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia completed an investigation into a criminal case against Dmitry Kopylov. He is charged with 21 episodes of crimes under paragraph Article 132, Part 4, Paragraph b (violent acts of a sexual nature committed against a person under 14 years of age), 19 episodes of criminal activity under Article 242.2, Part 2, Paragraph C of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (use of a minor for the production of pornographic materials or items), and 12 episodes of offences under Article 242.1, Part 2, Paragraph A of the Criminal Code (production and trafficking in materials or items with pornographic depictions of minors), and 17 episodes of offences under Article 242.1, Part 2, Paragraphs A, D of the Criminal Code (production and trafficking in materials or items with pornographic depictions of minors through the media, including information and telecommunications networks (including the Internet)), and under Article 325, Paragraph 1. 1 of the Criminal Code (misappropriation of state registration plates of a vehicle), Part 1 of Article 326 of the Criminal Code (use of a knowingly false state registration plate for the purpose of committing a crime) and Paragraph D of Part 2 of Article 126 of the Criminal Code (kidnapping committed against a person known to be a minor).

According to investigators, on September 28, 2020 he kidnapped a minor resident of the Vladimir region and held him until the law enforcement officers found him.

After the disappearance of the child the criminal case by decision of the leadership of the Investigative Committee of Russia was transferred to the Central Office. The location of the kidnapped boy was established as a result of meticulous work of the investigative and operational group. The child was found alive and returned to his parents. The victim was provided with qualified assistance of clinical psychologists during the preliminary investigation.

The investigation established Kopylov's involvement in other crimes committed since 2014, including infringement on the sexual inviolability of two minor children, as well as the production, storage and distribution of pornographic materials.

The investigation collected sufficient evidence to confirm the commission of these crimes, and therefore the criminal case against Kopylov was sent to court.
