The Moscow Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe under Part 2 of Article 105 (murder of two or more persons) and Article 222 of the Criminal Code of Russia (illegal turnover of weapons).

According to preliminary data, on December 7, 2021, a man entered the premises of a state organization located in South-Eastern Moscow and opened fire with a firearm at the people in the room. Two people died of their injuries on the spot. Other victims, including one minor child, are receiving the necessary medical treatment.

Currently, investigators and forensic specialists of the Moscow Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia are working at the scene, all the circumstances of the incident are being established. Andrei Strizhov, the head of the Main Investigative Department of the city of Moscow, arrived at the scene to coordinate the work of the investigative team.

A 45-year-old man was detained on suspicion of committing these crimes. In the near future he will be taken to the department for the necessary investigative actions. The criminal investigation is ongoing. A psychological and psychiatric forensic examination will be appointed to assess the man's mental condition.
