Alexander Bastrykin, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, instructed investigators from the Central Office to begin an inquiry into the reports of the murder of two Russian women on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
Earlier, a number of media outlets have disseminated information that the women who disappeared back in November this year were murdered. The women were living in Cyprus under a tourist visa. It was also reported about the alleged male suspect involved in the deaths of the Russian women.
Investigators must thoroughly investigate the circumstances of the women's deaths as part of the verification process, including through mechanisms of international cooperation in criminal proceedings. Based on its results and if there are sufficient grounds, a decision will be taken to initiate criminal proceedings into the murder of the two Russian women.
