The Moscow Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia is investigating a criminal case initiated under paragraphs A, F of Part 2 of Article 105 (murder of two or more persons by generally dangerous means) and Part 3 of Article 30, Paragraphs A, C, F of Part 2 of Article 105 (attempted murder of two or more persons, including a minor, by generally dangerous means) and Part 1 of article 222 of the Criminal Code (illegal trafficking in weapons).

According to preliminary data, on December 7, 2021, a man entered the premises of a state organization located in South-Eastern Moscow and opened fire with a firearm at the people in the room. Two people died of their injuries on the spot. Other victims, including a 10-year-old child, are receiving the necessary medical treatment in Moscow hospitals.

A 45-year-old man was detained on suspicion of committing these crimes. Investigators carried out searches at his place of residence, analyzed the materials describing his personality. Today, the suspect will be charged. The investigation intends to apply for a measure of restraint in the form of detention against the suspect.

As part of the preliminary investigation, witnesses and eyewitnesses to the incident have been questioned, and video surveillance cameras are being studied.  Necessary forensic examinations, including psychological and psychiatric examination have been appointed. Investigators will determine all the circumstances of what happened, including the motives for the crime. The criminal investigation continues.
